Special Monday demo session coming off a team offsite last week. Big focus on the depth of the dashboard experience and tried to get outstanding visual layout out of the box. We also give a look at pulling richer dbt metadata into the BI layer.

Below you'll see:

  • Our new dashboard layout and design functionality
  • Table visualizations for more quickly understanding row-by-row differences in tabular results
  • More scheduling options
  • Easier visualization configuration to handle the 10s of new toggles for your charts
  • A first cut at SAML integration
  • Read-only lineage from dbt live next to your data model

Lots of polish this week.

Below you'll see:

  • A final look at the new SQL UX
  • Improvements to SQL visualization, autocomplete, and making our URLs more pasteable
  • Lots of design touchups throughout (content validation, dashboard themes, calculations)
  • Some better in-app error handling

Not as many this week, but a couple of our most requested features.

Below you'll see:

  • A first look at experimentation around Excel-style calculation UX
  • Tools to move queries between workbooks, including snippets of data model that make sure everything just works
  • A bunch of enhancements to emailed reports - inline images, link scheduling, and lots more administration
  • Some UI helpers to help builders understand who can see what and why
  • The first version of a content bulk editor to ensure content stays in sync with breaking changes in the data model or database

This week was a busy one.

Below you'll see:

  • A better, simpler SQL experience that still gives users all the automated modeling when they want it
  • In-app themes for easy dark mode and color config
  • End-to-end row level data controls using access filters
  • Better dashboarding and scheduler administration and management
  • Beautiful dashboards featuring our new KPI visualization (sparklines, changes, targets, etc)
  • Some brush up of data tables, the join modal, timeframe switching, and SQL result sets

Another week, more progress on Omni

Below you'll see:

  • More accessible drill down
  • Post query calculations - the first infrastructure underneath our Excel-style query calculation layer
  • Rich KPI cards - our push to make sure no one has to build a single value outside the dashboard to get exactly what they need
  • A simple admin announcement tool so we can alert customers to issues or changes in product
  • Some handy pivot calculations for row-level running totals, percent of totals, and changes

Lots more work across backend administration and some elegant dashboarding and visualization improvements

Below you'll see:

  • Better email tracking
  • More robust large data handling
  • User attributes (the underpinnings of row-level access control, dynamic scheduling, and lots of other model driven permissioning and personalization)
  • Order of magnitude better single value cards for dashboarding
  • An almost released look at visualization aesthetic mapping

We wanted to start sharing more of our work, to give folks a view into how we're approaching new features. Every Friday we do demos of in-progress and recently landed eng, product, and design work.

Below you'll see:

  • Our first cut of maps in Omni
  • Some UX cleanup on table column dragging
  • WIP around a huge vis config rearchitecture to improve UX
  • More dynamic content by referencing filters in dashboard elements and visualization, with some new markdown objects as well

  • Embedding content into markdown
  • Bringing dbt metadata into the data model
  • Our first dynamic map
  • A long discussion and demo of our new backend cache
  • Some new model management fuctionality
  • Richer permissions and a better invite workflow
